New Seascape from Anne Toms
I helped hang Anne Toms' new painting 'Sea Light' at Yarmouth Gallery yesterday. One of her 'signature' seascapes, she has used traditional oil paint on stretched canvas 80cm wide x 100cm high. The canvas is on 4cm deep stretchers so that it can be hung directly on the wall - without a frame if preferred. 'Sea Light' is stunning, she handles the paint with the courage that years of observing her subject brings, combining absolute truthfulness to the changing moods of the natural world with a freedom of expression that makes the work entirely contemporary.
Inspiration came from Compton Beach, close to her studio at Freshwater Bay. It is
