Half Term on the Isle of Wight
Half term already, and the weather is still so mild we have barely had to switch on the heating.
We are hoping you may be visiting the Island during the next two weeks and that you may drop into Yarmouth Gallery. We have some gorgeous new scarves, ceramics and glass, not to mention a new series of oil paintings by artist in residence, Anne Toms. The gallery will be open 10am - 5pm Mon to Sat and 11am - 4pm Sun.
"This new series was inspired by the River Yar Estuary nature trail. The walk from Yarmouth Harbour to Freshwater causeway has been particularily spectacular for the number of little egrets, swans, coots, moorhens and other river birds to be seen this year. The long hot summer, despite all our fears of continuing draught - has brought thriving wildlife, fresh green reeds, intensely blue skies, white fluffy clouds and more swallows than we have seen for years. Acorns are fatter and riper and I've seen more red squirrels than is usual. This may be just a moment of joy in the unfolding drama of climate change but I am very happy to accept it and be excited and inspired"
