Soon after the Wight Link Ferry casts off from Lymington it will pass the local yacht club on the starboard side before winding its way out into the Solent. Sue Stitt has made her latest poster a celebration of this busy stretch of the river, bustling with activity, colour and sunshine; a welcome glimpse of the summer we hope lies ahead after this long, grey, wet, windy winter. Our first copies should arrive at the gallery in the next few days. You can reserve your copy now. It is a limited edition of 195 and will cost £90 for the A3 mounted print or £135 for the A2 size.f All are signed and numbered by the artist.
Hope you had a super Christmas Day and Boxing Day - we did. Now we are back to work at the Gallery and are open every day 10 - 4pm the rest of this week and from 11am - 4pm on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Here are a few new arrivals from just before Christmas
How nice to wake up to sunshine several days in a row. Apricot sky behind the bare branches of the trees in my garden at Freshwater Bay and silvery light through a gentle mist on the River Yar as I drive over the bridge to work at the Yarmouth Gallery - if I can call it work to be surrounded by beautiful things each lovingly designed and made by individual makers. Professional artists are a dedicated bunch. Paintings, prints, ceramics, glass, jewellery, textiles, all made with such care and attention. I wish the whole country would decide to by-pass the mass produced, profit led stuff and just come and browse in all the small galleries and independent shops in our towns and villages - especially ours! Here are just a few of the pieces we have on display. Drop by or use the email on our contact page to inquire about anything you see on this site
We have Angela Harding's latest Advent Calendar in stock and just 3 days to go before the first window will be opened and the countdown to Christmas begins.
We are open every day 10 - and 11-4 Sundays. We also have some beautiful Christmas and Winter cards.
Spent some time this morning with Martin hanging this 48" x 36" painting. It was a bit of a struggle as it is painted on board and quite weighty but well worth the effort. 'Green Boat at the Causeway, Freshwater' is so full of sunlight and fresh air it belies it's physical weight. Unusually for Martin, it is an acrylic.
Martin also brought two more small paintings, oils on stretched canvas and very easy to hang, a blessing as the gallery was filling with people by then. The paintings look wonderful: each radiating its own serene light.
The dappled shade from the overhanging trees curtain the shore from the bustle of activity on the water. A rather private place loved by many in Bembridge and perfect for a picnic and dip.
We are excited to be exhibiting Sue Stitt's latest addition to her sensationally attractive and popular series of Island Posters. 'Bembridge - Ducie Beach' was published on 17th March in a limited edition of 195.
Available from Yarmouth Gallery:

I have added a new page to the Yarmouth Gallery website in response to requests for more information about Anne Toms' original paintings currently included in our rolling exhibition. To find it go to the main site www.yarmouthgallery.com and select 'current' on the menu bar.
Also new to the site listing is Firestone Studios, recently set up by Paul & Kirstie Hayler. Their delightful little pots add a smile to the Gallery display.
Regular visitors to the Gallery's 'great little card shop' will see a new range of cards from Anne Toms. They feature her oil paintings of the West Wight and are printed on recycled card by Sixsmith.
Friends or relatives visiting the IW for the New Year Weekend? You will find us in the High Street, Yarmouth.
Yarmouth Gallery is pleased and excited to be showing Melanie Deegan's sculpture for the first time . We will be open all winter (closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day)
Sculptor Melanie Deegan was working in clay, learning about mould making and casting, and then moved on to plaster, lost wax bronze casting and Newplast, before she came across Jesmonite and thus began a journey of experiment with different approaches to casting and laminating. She now works predominantly with the material to create her distinctive sculptures. She uses the material effectively to capture a feeling of movement and animation in her subjects.
She says "Inspiration for my sculptures comes from various sources including photographs, paintings and real life. Being based in a rural area of South West England there is plenty of wildlife to be found locally along with farm and domestic animals." Melanie Deegan's plans for the future include a number of large sculptures suitable for outdoor locati...
